Sham + Gerard’s colourful wedding extravaganza included tinsel, sequins, a cocktail bus, a pool party and live roaming band complete with glitter beard.
We worked together with a kickass vendor team to bring this elopement-style wedding to life. Then Hooray Magazine decided to feature it – woohoo!
First up is the video (with original music by us), then read on for the full story and rad snaps from the day.
Wedding video song; Tiny Proposal, by Fidel & Sarah
The couple
Meet Sham + Gerard.
Sham is an actor/dancer/performance artist with an infectious smile and killer dance moves. Gerard is a skeletal articulator, which is as cool as it sounds – a kind of taxidermy of tiny amalgamated animal bones. Both are keen music lovers and brilliant artists in their own right.
And since all our couples get amalganames, Sham + Gerard are heretofore known as = Shamrard.

The plan
Kate from Good Day Club put together a killer wedding concept including a cocktail bus, pool party, and a veritable f-load of sparkly, glitter, colourful decor. We kinda like dressing in with wedding themes, so we took it too far this time with glitter boots, glitter drumsticks, glitter fringes and glitter beards. At some point during the day, Kate hung a disco ball ’round my neck. Who needs stage lights eh?

The ceremony
Being the wonderful wedding musicians that we are, we took charge of the music plans. We like the wedding songs we play to have some meaning for our couples. We start with the simple stuff:
Fidel: “What kinda tunes you like, Gerard?”
Gerard: “Definitely into the alternative stuff…”
Sarah: “You like punk, dude?”
Gerard: “Oh yeah, we both love punk!”
Sarah: “Rad. You know the Misfits?”
Gerard: “Of course! Sham loves ’em!”
So we put two and two together. Gerard plays with skulls, Sham loves misfits. And that’s how Shamrard’s processional song was born. We rocked on in behind them with portable drums and glitter absolutely everywhere, and they danced their way down the aisle like happy lunatics.
Shamrard’s processional song sounded a bit like this, but with drums instead of uke, and glitter flying everywhere.

The party
Post-ceremony, the party kicked on with poolside portraits, gourmet grazing, a magical cocktail bus, and plenty of dancing. Shamrard’s first dance extended to an all-out boogie fest, and then we closed the night with some super romantic arm-in-arm serenades. The end!

“The best way to make an entrance to your ceremony is by dancing. This is best facilitated with Fidel and Sarah in tow, playing up a storm!”

The after party
You just can’t have a pool party without Fidel jumping in in his gold shorts…

…and they lived awesomely ever after.
The end.

“Fidel and Sarah are excellent humans. They bring a great vibe, an awesome range of tunes, and have a rad dynamic energy that seeps through their music! Bouncing from super fun covers of 80’s punk songs like ‘Skulls’ by The Misfits, to incredibly adorable original songs… they made the soundscape a blissful hit.”
